Scotty Cameron, Titleist’s putter division, has announced a limited-edition Phantom OC Spec III low torque putters in two models, the Phantom 5 OC and Phantom 11R OC, both with a black PVD finish and onset shaft.

Top of the price spectrum putters always have high-performance features and the Phantom OC Spec IIIs are no exception. Scotty Cameron calls their putter with limited torque “low torque” rather than following everyone else in the market who use zero torque. They say the putting stroke has some amount of torque regardless of the putter design so these two new models are low torque not zero torque which I’m sure they view as a contrast and a marketing point compared to other makers.
Shafts are not offset but onset meaning it is behind the face so OC stands for Onset Center, in line with the head’s center of gravity and slightly behind the face.
Spec III comes from the automobile world where every part is optimized to compliment the overall performance.
As part of the press announcement the company said, “OC putters will best fit players looking to minimize face rotation and feel a straight-back-and-through stroke. Design elements like minimal shaft lean (one degree), familiar head shapes from the Phantom family, and a conventional grip style (tapered mid-size Matador) help facilitate a smooth transition from more traditional putter setups.”
