Quail Lodge & Golf Club has a new look

Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel Valley recently unveiled a spectacular resort-wide $28 million renovation. The hotel, located on the Monterey Peninsula, had been closed since November 2009 and its re-opening was eagerly anticipated by the community and avid golfers alike.

All guestrooms, meeting spaces and public areas debuted a new look inspired by historic California ranch and Spanish colonial design elements, offering a comfortable, modern and distinctly Californian ambience.

Interior color tones of warm gold and orange reflect the beauty of the sun-drenched Carmel Valley, and each guestroom offers a private deck or patio that overlooks the lakes, golf course or lush gardens. Some guest suites also feature cozy fireplaces perfect for enjoying a cool Carmel Valley evening.

Guests can enjoy an array of resort amenities at Quail Lodge, including Edgar’s, located in the Quail Golf Club, offering lunch and dinner with eclectic and savory California cuisine. A heated outdoor pool, bocce court, tennis courts and weight and cardio center round out the resort’s comprehensive fitness offerings. In addition, the on-site Land Rover Experience Driving School offers guests the opportunity to climb behind the wheel and master a variety of off-road obstacles.

The 18-hole layout at Quail Lodge features relaxed California golf at its best. Designed by Robert Muir Graves, the tree-lined par-71 course includes three sets of tees on each hole, as well as a practice facility.

The golf course is managed by KemperSports, which operates golf, resort and sports facilities in 26 states and internationally, including Bandon Dunes Golf Resort and Chambers Bay, host of the 2015 U.S. Open.

Quail Lodge’s golf program is led by Director of Instruction Katherine Marren. As the 2008 Northern California PGA Teacher of the Year, Marren spent 16 years as the Lead Instructor at the Pebble Beach Golf Academy, where she was involved in many aspects of the program’s development and teacher training.

As a PGA Class-A professional, Marren has been teaching the game for more than 20 years and currently offers private lessons featuring the industry’s top technology, such as the MAT-T System. Additionally, group half-day golf schools focus on value, fun and camaraderie.

FYI: Through April 18, Quail Lodge & Golf Club is offering a “Stay and Play” package starting at $195 (plus tax) per night that includes one round of golf for two persons, daily continental breakfast, golf cart, parking and high-speed Internet access.
