Joe Highsmith claimed the individual title and defending national champion Pepperdine won the team championship by four strokes over Texas A&M in the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga.
Highsmith, a senior from Lakewood, Wash., claimed his second college title with a score of 63-65-69—197, 19-under-par, while Alex Fitzpatrick of Wake Forest was second at 64-66-71—201, and Karl Vilips of Stanford shot 67-67-70–204 to tie for third with Sam Bennett of Texas A&Mm who wound up at 68-70-66—204.
Walker Lee of Texas A&M was fifth at 68-69-68—205, while William Mouw of Pepperdine totaled 70-69-67—206 to tie for sixth with Archie Davies of East Tennessee State, who finished at 66-70-70—206.
Tyler Johnson of Tennessee was eighth at 69-70-69—208, while Thomas Allkins of Texas Christian totaled 70-74-65—209 to tie for ninth with George Duangmanee of Virginia, who shot 73-69-67—209, Pietro Bovari if Virginia, who finished at 71-69-69—209, and Ian Siebers of 70-69-70—209.
Jackson Rivera led USC in a tie for 16th at 73-68-70—211 and Bryan Wiyang Teoh of UCLA tied for 26th at 73-71-70—214.
Rounding out the scoring for team champion Pepperdine were Joey Vrzich in a tie for 13th at 69-73-68—210, Dylan Menante in a tie for 19th at 74-70-68—212, and Derek Hitchner in a tie for 29th at 73-71-71—215.
Pepperdine claimed the team title with a score of 275-275-272—822, 42-under-par, followed by Texas A&M at 275-279-272—826, Wake Forest at 283-276-282—841, Tennessee at 281-277-284—842 and Stanford 286-275-285—846.
Georgia Tech totaled 286-282-282–850 to tie for sixth with Virginia, which finished at 292-278-290—850, while Duke was eighth at 280-291-280—851, and Clemson wound up at 289-283-284—856 to tie for ninth with East Tennessee State, which came in at 279-284-293—856.
UCLA was 13th at 291-285-293—869 and USC was 287-294-289—870.
