Crawford wins 26th Stocker Cup by 2 shots

Tyler Crawford of Indio used a set of borrowed clubs to win the 26th Stocker Cup at the Preserve Golf Club in Carmel.

When Crawford’s clubs didn’t make arrive, he scrambled to final another set and used them to post a score of 68-73-74—215, 1-under-par, for a two-stroke victory over Bill Williamson of Cincinnati, who shot 70-71-76—217, and Reid Hatley of Hayden Lake, Iowa, who totaled 73-71-73—217.

“I played my best (in the final round), though I got clobbered on No 4 (with a double bogey),” said Crawford, who won the Kelly Cup earlier this year.

“I’d like to really thank Joe Sanders and Jerry Ledzinski. Joe got me in touch with Jerry who connected me with Jeff Britton (who provided Crawford with his clubs). And, of course, without Jeff and his wife’s (Scotty Cameron Pink Lady) putter, I wouldn’t have won.”

Kenny Cook of Noblesville, Ind., carded a score of 71-75-72—218 to tie for fourth with Joseph Deraney of Nashville, Tenn., who finished at 73-77-68—218, while Daren Johnson of Oakland wound up at 72-73-74—219 to tie for sixth with Tim Hamm of Austin, Texas, who shot 72-71-76—219, Joe Sanders of Bee Cave, Texas, who totaled 77-72-70—219, and Colby Harwell of San Antonio, who came in at 68-75-76—219.

Jason Anthony of Fairfield shot 69-77-74—220 to tie for 10th with Jerry Ledzinski of Carmel, who finished at 73-75-72—220, Kevin Wolf of Lodi, who totaled 71-72-77—220, and Steve Hudson of Birmingham, Ala., who wound up at 69-75-76—220.
