Sepersky, Matteson win SoCal Junior titles

Serena Sepersky of Temecula captured the Girls Division and Adam Matteson of San Diego won the Boys Division in the 2017 Southern California Junior Amateur Championship at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Temecula.

The two-day 36-hole tournament is co-hosted by the Southern California PGA and the Southern California Golf Association.

Matteson finished with a score of 69-70—139, while Ryan Smith of Carlsbad shot 71-72—143 to tie for second with Edwin Kuang of Murrieta, who finished at 69-74—143.

Tyler Guo of Irvine was fourth at 68-76—144, followed by Kyle Kinnane of Anaheim Hills at 73-72—145 and Tyler Schafer of Long Beach at 73-73—146.

Kento Yamawaki of Encinitas carded a score of 76-71—147 to tie for seventh with Caden Fioroni of San Diego, who totaled 73-74—147, Harrison Kingsley of Murrieta, who wound up at 70-77—147, and Ray Xiong of Rancho Santa Fe, who came in at 73-74—177.

Sepersky won with a score of 70-77—147, followed by Jadan Gonzalez of Glendora at 73-77—150 and Bello Setio of San Marino at 75-76—151.

Azumi Arai of Irvine shot 79-73—152 to tie for fourth with Jiarui Jin of Encinitas, who wound up at 77-75—152, Jennifer Cai of Irvine, who finished at 73-79—152, Angelina Kim of Los Angeles, who totaled 72-80—152, and Toni Sottile of Thousand Oaks, who also came in at 72-80—152.

Madison Daniel of Bakersfield posted a score of 79-74—153 to tie for ninth with Michelle Wong of La Habra Heights, who finished at 77-76—153.
