USC’s Texeira, UCSB win at Bill Cullum Invitational

Jonah Texeira of USC claimed the individual title and UC Santa Barbara took home the team championship in the Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley.

Texeira, a junior from Porter Ranch who was competing as an individual as the Trojans did not enter a full team, won for the first time in his college career by posting a tournament-record score of 66-68-68–202, 14-under par. He collected 18 birdies and an eagle over 54 holes.

Fidel Concepcion of Southern Utah was second at 68-67-69–204, while David Kim of UC Irvine shot 73-66-68–207 to tie for third with Brandon Bauman of UC Santa Barbara, who finished at 73-64-70–207.

Willy Moffly of UC Santa Barbara was fifth at 69-66-73–208, while Nick Swanson of UC Santa Barbara totaled 67-73-69–209 to tie for sixth with Tanner Jenson of Utah State, who wound up at 70-68-71–209, and CJ Coleman of Cal State Fullerton, who came in at 71-70-68–209.

Jonathan Kang of UC Irvine shot 71-69-70–210 to tie for ninth with Anthony Cecere of Pepperdine, who finished at 69-72-69–210.

UC Santa Barbara captured the team championship with a tournament-record-tying score of 279-275-279–833, 31-under, followed by UC Irvine at 292-276-281–849, Long Beach State at 288-288-277–853, Seattle at 287-290-282–859 and Utah State at 287-282-291–860.

Cal State Fullerton was sixth at 296-284-286–866, while Cal Poly San Luis Obispo totaled 291-291-289–871 to tie for seventh with Loyola Marymount, which finished at 286-291-294–871.

Southern Utah was ninth at 290-290-294–874, followed by Cal State Northridge at 288-291-296–875.

Pacific was 13th at 301-291-296–888, followed by Cal State Bakersfield at 307-299-297–903 and UC Riverside at 297-306-302–905.
