Symetra extends deal with LPGA Tour

Symetra Financial Corp. announced that it has extended its sponsorship of the LPGA Tour ‘s developmental tour through 2021.

The company also said it will match any tournament purse increase next season.

“Symetra has been a committed partner for the past four years, but challenged us to find a way they could contribute to raising purses across the schedule,” said Mike Nichols, the Symetra Tour’s chief business officer.

“As the Symetra Tour continues its growth, we are proud to have in Symetra a partner that both sees the value of the tour in helping build their brand and is fully invested in the future of women’s golf and the livelihood of our members.”

As part of the matching program, the Symetra Classic will increase its purse to $150,000 next season and the Symetra Tour Championship will have a total purse of $200,000.

The Symetra Tour schedule has grown from 16 to 23 events over the last three seasons and this year’s total prize money was $2.8 million.

The top 10 players on the money list at the end of each season earn playing privileges on the LPGA Tour for the following year.
