Posey to play in Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Catcher Buster Posey of the World Series champion San Francisco Giants will make his debut in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in February, tournament officials announced.

Pitcher Matt Cain of the Giants, who have won the World Series three of the last five years, will play in the tournament for the fifth time.

“We are thrilled that Buster Posey is joining us,” said Steve John, chief executive officer of the Monterey Peninsula Foundation and tournament director. “He is a tremendously popular superstar who is certain to be an instant attraction.

“Enhancing our field with players like Buster Posey and Paul McGinley (European Ryder Cup captain from Ireland) ensures the tournament experience stays fresh for both the spectators and the competitors.”

Posey is an avid golfer who has played Augusta National in his native Georgia.

The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am will be played on the Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and the Monterey Peninsula Country Club’s Shore Course on Feb. 12-15.
