The big news Mizuno is talking about with the JPX One driver is the use for the first time in a driver of what is called a Nanoalloy on the outer layer of the two-layer face. For those who want to know, a Nanoalloy contains polymer plastic of microscopic size dispersed through the metal.

According to Mizuno, this is more efficient imparting energy to the ball by compressing slightly and distributing the energy over a larger area, in effect retaining ball speed potential on off center hits.

The titanium face behind the Nanoalloy outside could then be made 0.35mm thinner and the sweet spot 15% larger.

There is a JPX One Select model for better players also priced at $600 with a shallower center of gravity placement to produce less spin.
