McNealy second, USC third in Hawaii

Maverick McNealy of Stanford finished second and USC tied for third in the Amer Ari Invitational on the Kings Course at Waikoloa Beach Golf Resort in Waikoloa, Hawaii, on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island.

McNealy, a sophomore from Portola Valley who won twice during the Fall Season, carded scores of 67-69-65–201, 15-under-par, and finished two strokes behind Cheng-Tsung Pan of Washington and Taiwan, who captured his fifth college victory at 65-65-69–199.

“McNealy put in some great work,” said Conrad Ray, Stanford director of golf.

Scottie Scheffler of Texas shot 69-66-68–203 and tied for third with Brandon McIver of Oregon, who wound up at 67-68-68–203, while Rico Hoey of USC and Rancho Cucamonga totaled 66-66-72–204, to tie for fifth with Kristoffer Ventura of Oklahoma State, who came in at 68-69-67–204.

Luke Vivolo of UC Davis and Carmel tied for eighth at 69-69-67–205, Bobby Gojuangco of USC and San Diego tied for 11th at 69-67-70–206, Manav Shah of UCLA and Bakersfield tied for 14th at 67-71-69–207, Sean Crocker of USC and Westlake Village tied for 18th at 70-71-67–208, and Jonathan Garrick of UCLA and Atherton tied for 23rd at 72-72-65–209.

Arizona State claimed the team title at 277-278-271–826, followed by Washington at 277-269-282–828, while USC totaled 276-273-280–829 to tie for third with Oregon, which finished at 280-277-270–829, and Texas Christian was fifth at 282-282-268–832.

UCLA posted a score of 283-284-274–841 to tie for 10th with Stanford, which came in at 278-275-278–841, while UC Davis was 13th at 281-284-289–854 and San Jose State finished 15th at 292-291-292–875.
