Scott Mallory and Kevin Ruby of The Journey at Pechanga www.pechanga.com, the host course, recorded a bogey-free score of 9-under-par 63 to win the inaugural Southern California PGA Member-Associate Championship by one stroke over two teams in Temecula Valley.
The tournament’s Triple Play format consisted of a Scramble on holes 1-6, Four-ball on holes 7-12 and Alternate Shot on holes 13-18.
Mallory and Ruby’s recorded nine birdies, including four in a row from holes No. 8 through 11 during the Four-ball format.
Jacob Rodriguez of South Hills Country Club and Kyle Mendoza of the Farms Golf Club posted a score of 64 to tie for second with Luka Swisher and Mark Geddes.
Jason Timlin of Maderas Golf Club and Cavin McCall of Pauma Valley Country Club shot 65 to tie for fourth with Mike Fergin of Mesa Verde Country Club and Lachlan Mitchell of Desert Springs Golf Club.
Al Geiberger Jr. of the Palms Golf Club and Michael Block of Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club finished at 66 to tie for sixth with Bobby Nickell of Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club and Lyon Lazare of Valencia Country Clyb, and Sean King and Michael Reese of Apple Valley Golf Course.
Logan Scott and Joseph Tamarkin of Oakmont Country Club totaled 67 to tie for ninth with Alan Scheer and Paul Spangler of Steele Canyon Golf Club, James Schacht and Zach Eddy of Mesa Verde Country Club, and Paul Wise of Hillcrest Country Club and Michael D’Angelo of Hacienda Golf Club.
Skins were paid out to Andrew Kramer of Los Serranos Golf Club and Raj Samra of Wilshire Country Club for an eagle on the par-4 fourth hole; Wise/D’Angelo for an eagle on the par-5 ninth, Geiberger Jr./Block for an eagle on the par-4 10th, and King/Reese for a birdie on the par-4 14th.
