Logan Kim of La Canada Flintridge captured the Boys Division title and Karen Tsuru of Carlsbad won the Girls Division in the 2019 Lizette Salas Classic in windy conditions at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon https://tukwetcanyon.com in Beaumont.
Salas, of Azusa and USC who was a standout on the Southern California PGA Junior Tour and plays on the LPGA Tour, was on hand to present the trophies to Kim and Tsuru.
Kim rallied from three strokes down in the final round, which he capped with a brilliant run by making a birdie on the 16th hole, a hole in one on the 17th and a birdie on the last to win by two strokes over Chanachon Chokprajakchat of Anaheim.
Kim posted a score of 74-69—143, 1-under-par, Chanachon Chokprajakchat was second at 75-70—145, followed by Bo Jin of Encinitas at 72-74—146.
Alexander Gibalevich of Studio City shot 76-71—147 to tie for fourth with Ethan Chang of Murrieta, who finished at 72-75—147, while Benjamin Hong of Brea was sixth at 80-68—148.
Mason Snyder of Las Vegas totaled 78-71—149 to finish in a tie for seventh with Nicolas Harrison of Buena Park (75-74—149), Joseph Chun of Irvine (75-74—149), Joshua Koo of Cerritos of (72-77—149), Kyle An of Aliso Viejo (73-76—149), and Hyunho Cho of Irvine (72-77—149).
Tsuru carded four birdies on the front nine in the final round en route to her sixth Toyota Tour Cup title of the season, finishing at 74-69—143, 1-under, while Lucy Yuan of San Diego shot 76-69—145 to tie for second with Joyce Jin of Encinitas, who wound up at 74-71—145.
Kylee Choi of South Pasadena carded a score of 76-73—149 to tie for fourth with Kexin Guan of Irvine, who finished at 74-75—149, while Dianna Lee of San Diego totaled 76-74—150 to tie for sixth with Mitzi Duarte of Norwalk, who wound up at 75-75—150.
Olivia Yun of Carlsbad posted a score of 76-75—151 to tie for eighth with Sabrina Nguyen of Escondido, who shot 72-79—151, and Yana Wilson of Henderson, Nev., who came in at 73-78—151.
