Brandon Harkins of Walnut Creek and Cal State Chico captured the 50th Annual TaylorMade Pebble Beach Invitational by two strokes over Alex Cejka of Germany and Harry Hall of England at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The 35-year-old Harkins birdied six of the last eight holes on the front nine en route to a 5-under-par 66, clinching his victory with another birdie with a 15-foot putt on the famed 18th hole at Pebble Beach.
Every golfer in the field played one round each at Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and the Links at Spanish Bay over the first three rounds, and the final round was contested completely at Pebble after the cut to 40 players was made.
Hankins, who won the 2007 California State Fair Amateur Championship and played on the Korn Ferry Tour last season, led most of the way and posted a tournament record score of 63-67-71-66—267, 21- under.
Cejka, who has won 16 times as a pro, carded a score of 68-73-63-65—269, while Hall, who won the 2020 Wichita Open on the Korn Ferry Tour, finished at 65-71-66-67—269.
Justin Suh of San Jose and USC was solo fourth at 71-64-71-64—270, while Isaiah Salinda of South San Francisco and Stanford, shot 66-71-69-68—274 to tie for fifth with Austin Eckroat, who finished at 74-63-67-70—274.
Brittany Lincicome was seventh at 72-72-64-67—275, followed by Harris Ellis of England at 72-67-68-69—276, Matt Bettencourt of Alameda and Modesto City College at 69-68-69-71—277, while Kirk Triplett totaled 64-70-74-70—278 to tie for 10th with Jeff Gove of San Marcos and Pepperdine, who came in at 70-69-70-69—278.
