Epson of Long Beach Wins Silver State Am

Hunter Epson of Long Beach captured the inaugural Silver State Amateur, part of the Troon Saguaro Amateur Series, by two strokes over Connor Golembeski of Redmond, Wash., on the Sun Mountain Course at Paiute Golf Resort in Las Vegas.

Epson shot 6-under-par 30 in the back nine in the final round to take command and became the first player to win two Troon Saguaro Amateur Series events, also claiming the 2018 Agave Amateur title in Palm Springs.

A senior at Long Beach State who also won the 2019 Nick Watney Invitational, Epson posted a score of 70-68-64—202, 14-under-par, while Golembeski finished at 71-68-65—204.

Costas Panay of Sammamish, Wash., who won in the Troon Saguaro at the Silverado Amateur in July, totaled 65-71-70—206 to tie for third with Daniel Gurtner of Guatemala, who wound up at 69-70-67—206.

Clay Seeber of Newport Beach shot 67-74-66—207 to tie for fifth with Matthew McCarty of Scottsdale, Ariz., who finished at 68-71-68—207, while Jonathan Walters of

Las Vegas was seventh at 72-69-67—208.

Bryce Kvick of Carmichael totaled 69-69-71—209 to tie for eighth with David Snyder of McAllen, Texas, who came in at 70-72-67—209, while Michael Sarro of Henderson, Nev., was 10th at 69-71-70—210.
