Cheyenne Woods tied for lead

Cheyenne Woods posted a 6-under-par 67 to tie for the lead with Stacy-Lee Bregman of South Africa midway through the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters at Royal Pines Resort in Queensland, Australia.

The 23-year-old niece of Tiger Woods started at No. 10 and posted three birdies on the back nine, before bouncing back from her only bogey of the day at No. 18 by pitching in for eagle on the next hole and adding two more birdies on the front.

“I feel a lot more comfortable out here, and there are a few familiar faces from last year, so overall I think I’m well adjusted,” said the graduate of Wake Forest, who is in her second season on the Ladies European Tour. “I’m just in a good place and I’m able to play good golf.

“I think it was a lot calmer today; the wind didn’t gust up too bad. (Thursday) when we played it was a little rainy, a little wet, and it was windy. But today the conditions were great, so you probably will continue to see the lower scores.”

Bregman, who has never won on the LET but tied for second last year in the South African Women’s Open, recorded a bogey-free 67, making four birdies in a span of eight holes while also finishing on the front nine.

Trish Johnson of England was third, one stroke back, after a 66, with Camilla Lennarth of Sweden another stroke behind in fourth after a 67.

Katie Barnett, who was tied for the first-round lead with Jessica Korda, shot 71 and was tied for fifth, while Korda struggled to a 73 and slid to a tie for 11th.

Defending champion Karrie Webb of Australia, who was trying to win what started out as the Australian Ladies Masters for a record ninth time, shot 74-74–148 to make the cut on the number, but was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard.
