MISSION VIEJO, CA – Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club Head Golf Professional Michael Block fired a 67 at Hacienda Golf Club on Monday to qualify for the Northern Trust Open, set for February 14-17 at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. Block had six birdies and two bogeys en route to a three-shot victory. He birdied holes 15, 16 and 17 to take command of the event and collect the winner’s check of $1,150. When asked about his victory, Block responded: “I’ve been hitting it really well for the last nine months.”
“This is joining an elite group,” said Arroyo Trabuco Club Manager Geoff Cram. “We have quite a few good players around here, and it’s rewarding for all of us that he got into this PGA Tour event.”
Block is a veteran of Southern California professional golf tournaments. He last played in a Tour event when he qualified for the 2007 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA.
