Scott Anderson and Mark Pavletich of Bakersfield captured the Southern California Golf Association’s Stableford Team Championship by one point over Jeff Burda of La Quinta and Jim Knoll of Sunnyvale on the Dunes Course at La Quinta Resort and Club.
The SCGA Stableford Team Championship format awards teams points on each hole on their score relative to par. Both players balls are in play, and the two scores on each hole are added together for the final team score on that hole.
Anderson and Pavletich (pictured) had only one point on the first day, but roared back with 11 the next day to claim a 12-11 victory over Burda and Knoll.
Burda and Knoll posted a score of 2-9-11, while Cullen Brasfield of La Quinta and Earl Morley of Palm Desert were third at 3-7-10, followed by John Pate of Santa Barbara and Jeff Wilson of Fairfield at 3-1—4, and Sage Casaga of Murrieta and Cody Hall of Wildomar at minus-2-4—2.
