The Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas Longhorns will meet today at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades to determine the winner of the 2012 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships.

Alabama held on yesterday to defeat California 3-2, with the match coming down to the final hole of the final pairing. Hunter Hamrick made par on the 18th to defeat Joel Stalter 1 up and send the Crimson Tide to the final round of the tournament.

Also picking up victories for Alabama were Scott Strohmeyer, who edged Pace Johnson 1 up, and Cory Whitsett, who handled Brandon Hagy 3 & 1.

Meeting Alabama in the finals will be the Texas Longhorns, the No. 1 nationally ranked team heading into the event. Texas took out Oregon 3-2 in the semifinals to reserve their spot in the championship round.

Texas jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead over Oregon after Toni Hakula knocked off Robbie Ziegler 3 & 1 and Cody Gribble beat Jonathan Woo 2 & 1.

Eugene Wong did his part for Oregon, taking a strong lead over Jordan Spieth early in the match and never allowing the All-American to square things up. It was not enough, however, as Julio Vegas overtook Andrew Vijarro on the 17th hole en route to a 2 up victory that would eliminate the Ducks.
