Bethany Wu of Diamond Bar was in a Class by herself in the Women’s Trans National.
Wu, a sophomore at UCLA, posted a score of 70-74-68-69–281 to win by eight strokes over Amanda Kim of O’Fallon, Mo., at Lake Forest Country Club in St. Louis.
Other former winners of the tournament include Betty Jameson, Betsy Rawls, Patty Berg, Babe Zaharias, Sandra Haynie, JoAnne Carner, Nancy Lopez, Sherri Steinhauer, Carole Semple Thompson, Pearl Sinn, Vicki Goetze, Grace Park, Kellee Booth, Brittany Lang, Paige Mackenzie and Hannah Suh.
Next up for Wu is the U.S. Women’s Amateur on Aug. 1-7 at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pa.

Samantha Gotcher of Clarksville, Tenn., shot 72-73-72-77–294 to tie for third with Elizabeth Elmassian pf Australia, who totaled 73-74-72-75–294, and Elle Nachmann of Boca Raton, Fla., was fifth at 75-72-73-75–295.
Ellen Port of St. Louis wound up at 77-75-77–69–298 to tie for sixth with Gabby Curtis of Eau Claire, Wis., who totaled 76-78-75-69–298, while Samantha Martinez of the Philippines shot 74-77-75-73–299 to tie for eighth with Siyun Liu of China, who came in at 80-73-73-73–299.
Emily Laskin of Elk Grove tied for 29th at 77-79-72-80–308.
