Alana Uriell of Carlsbad went nearly wire-to-wire to capture the eighth Women’s California State Open Championship by a whopping six strokes on the Babe Zaharias Course at Industry Hills Golf Club in the City of Industry.

Uriell, who won the 2019 SkyiGolf Championship on the Epsom Tour, carded a winning score of 65-67—132, 11-under-par, while amateur Ellie Bushnell of Granite Bay was second at 69-69—138, followed by Annika Borrelli of Alamo at 70-71—141, and Haley Moore of Escondido at 71-71—142.

“The course played really well over the two days,” said Uriell, who was a 2018 second team All-American while playing at the University of Arkansas. “I felt like I was hitting my driver really well, and it was definitely the best part of my game.

“I’m really glad things came together for me this week, and I’m really excited to be holding the trophy today.”
