The idea of a smaller headed driver, i.e. mini driver, has caught on with pros and better amateurs since the shorter shaft and smaller head generally mean straighter tee shots and more fairways. Both are factors of course in lower scoring.

“The main goal in development was to make GTS300 a more forgiving mini driver,” said Stephanie Luttrell, Titleist’s Senior Director of Metalwood Development. “The increase in volume and shift in CG gave us approximately 15–20% greater inertia. At the same time, we still put a premium on versatility and performance off the turf with this club.”

While the GTS300 is about 100cc larger than a normal 3-wood the weighting and configuration are conducive to fairway shots and for some may replace a 3-wood in their bag.

The GTS300 has gained 20cc from the previous model and the head has been reshaped with a longer tail that reduces downswing air drag so the head gains speed and speed is distance. Players will also appreciate the L-cup face that improves ball speed when impact is low on the face as from the fairway.
