Ultra-lightweight components, improvement aerodynamics and split interior weighting all contribute to making the GT1 driver a choice for slower to moderate swing speed players looking get a higher launch without adding too much spin.
Making use of an all-polymer crown that wraps around the rear of the head, internal weight distribution front and rear plus a skirt weight relocated the center of gravity of the GT1 towards the back of the head and nearer the sole. This also contributes to a high launch but more importantly adds lots of forgiveness…not that any of us needs that kind of help(!).
Sticking with the lightweight for more clubhead speed design theme players will note the Fujikura Air Speeder Next Gen shaft is a 40g version.
Commenting on the GT1 for the press announcement Stephanie Luttrell, Director of Titleist Metalwood Product Development for Titleist, said, “When we began thinking about how we evolve and improve upon the ‘1’ models, we started by tapping into our global network of fitting specialists to understand what it is that would really advance performance for GT1 players. The resounding feedback that we heard across the board for the driver, fairways and hybrids is that anything we can do to increase launch is going to help this player improve their overall trajectory, consistency and distance. Making the line launch higher, while maintaining optimal spin rates, is really going to benefit both the moderate speed player as well as the player that is naturally low spin.”
