Tiger parts ways with Foley

Tiger Woods announced on his website that he no longer will be working with swing coach Sean Foley, ending a relationship that lasted four years.

Woods, who formerly worked with Butch Harmon and Hank Haney, won eight times on the PGA Tour while working with Foley, but was unable to add to his total of 14 major championships.

“I’d like to thank Sean for his help as my coach and for his friendship,” Woods said in his online statement. “Sean is one of the outstanding coaches in golf today, and I know he will continue to be successful with the players working with him.

“With my next tournament not until my World Challenge event at Isleworth in Orlando, this is the right time to end our professional relationship.”

Woods, who had back surgery on May 31 and is recovering from what he said is an unrelated back injury, said he has no timetable to replace Foley.
