PXG has never, as my mother used to say, been one to “hide their light under a bushel basket,” and the naming of their newest driver-fairway wood is no exception, calling it the Secret Weapon.

Professionals and other elite players often make use of a strong 3-wood for tee shots and the idea of the mini-driver is to merge the best of a modern design driver with a 3-wood. Mini-drivers work best for those with high swing speeds and considering the head is 160cc smaller than most other regularly sized drivers on the market the 2-inch shorter shaft length is warranted.

Secret Weapon is the first mini-driver by PXG and since it is really a large 3-wood the leading edge of the sole is contoured for ease of passing over the turf. PXG tells me, “Testing shows a 3 mph increase in ball speed and a 300rpm reduction in spin compared to the Black Ops [PXG 2024] 3-Fairway, further enhancing distance and control.”

PXG Founder and CEO Bob Parsons was quoted in the press announcement, “With the PXG Secret Weapon, we aimed to create a versatile mini-driver that allows better players to achieve remarkable consistency and performance both off the tee and off the deck.”
