Tanihana Wins NorCal Amateur by 2 Shots

Jonathan Tanihana of Sacramento captured the NorCal Amateur, part of the Golden State Tour, by two strokes over Marc Engellenner of Rocklin and Blaze Akana of Hawaii at Auburn Valley Golf Course in Auburn.

Tanihana, a junior at Sacramento State who plays out of Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, posted a winning score of 66-74-70—210, 3-under-par, while Engellenner finished at 74-70-68—212, and Akana wound up at 73-67-72—212.

Casey Leebrick of San Luis Obispo was fourth at 74-73-68—215 to tie for fifth with Peyton Callens of Canada, who totaled 76-71-68—215, and Jacob Westberg of Sacramento, who shot 70-72-73—215.

Trey Davis of Plumas Lake posted a score of 75-73-69—217 to tie for seventh with Connor Motherway of Reno, who finished at 71-75-71—217, while Zachery Pollo of Rocklin, who wound up at 72-77-70—219, and Sam Harned of Sparks, Nev., who came in at 72-74-73—219.
