Adam Stone of Cal State East Bay shared medalist honors and Cal State-Monterey Bay claimed the team title in the UCSD SoCal Intercollegiate at Carlton Oaks Golf Club in Santee.
The left-handed Stone, a sophomore from England, earned his second title of the season by posting a score of 71-75-72–218, 2-over-par, and tied for first with Dalen Yamauchi of Hawaii-Hilo, who finished at 75-72-71–218.
Anibal Kim Yang of Cal State-Dominguez Hills finished third at 70-76-73–219, followed by Ray Richards of Cal State-Monterey Bay, who wound up at 70-77-73–220, while Brandon Hortt of Cal State-Monterey Bay shot 74-74-74–222 and tied for fifth with Stephen Cook of Colorado-Colorado Springs, who came in at 71-78-73–222.
Carr Vernon of Cal State-Monterey Bay totaled 73-78-72–223 and tied for eighth with
A.J. Hebert of Cal State East Bay, who finished at 78-73-73–224, Fredrik Jullum of Cal State-Monterey Bay, who wound up at 76-73-75–224, and Kyle Southard of Colorado-Colorado Springs, who totaled 72-76-76–224.
Rocky Hall of UC San Diego shot 76-76-73–225 and tied for 11th with teammate with
Daniel Yang of UC San Diego, who came in at 76-80-69–225.
Michael Mencaccy led Cal State-Stanislaus in a tie for 16th at 77-77-75–229.
Cal State-Monterey Bay took home the team trophy with a score of 293-302-293–888, 24-over-par, followed by Colorado-Colorado Springs at 294-304-294–892 and Cal State East Bay at 305-304-299–908.
“Today was so much better after the way we finished yesterday,” Coach Jason Owen of Cal State-Monterey Bay said after the Otters won for the second straight tournament and the third time this season.
“It was great to see everyone contribute. We have a lot of good players who are learning to score even when they don’t hit their best.”
Hawaii-Hilo was fifth at 305-305-299–909, followed by Cal State-Stanislaus at 312-306-
303–921, Cal State-Dominguez Hills at 304-308-311–923, and UC San Diego at 316-314-302–932.
