Saunders wins L.A. County Amateur by 2

Jonathan Saunders of Long Beach claimed his second title of the summer, winning the Los Angeles County Amateur Championship by two strokes over Josh McCollum of Upland at Lakewood Country Club.

Saunders, who also captured the Long Beach Match Play Championship, posted a score of 66-69—135, 5-under-par, with McCollum, who plays at Creighton University, finishing at 70-67—137.

Dylan Hall of Colorado Springs was third at 68-70—138, while Luca Simpson of France shot 68-72—140 to tie for fourth with Andrew Thomson of Scotland, who wound also up at 68-72—140.

Lewis Simpson of Torrance totaled 70-71—140 to tie for fourth with William Wells of Lemon Grove, who finished at 69-72—141, while Nathan Zhao of Guam recorded a score of 72-70—142 to tie for eighth with Doug Williams of Los Angeles, who came in at 69-72—142.

Freddy Esparza of Alhambra posted a score of 70-73—143 to tie for 10th with Brian Song of Beverly Hills, who totaled 73-70—143, Scott Sterry of La Palma, who finished at 71-72—143 and Brandon Tsujimoto of Japan, who wound up at 72-71—143.
