Pigman Earns SCPGA’s Spot in Farmers

Kenny Pigman, PGA assistant pro at Goose Creek Golf Club in Mira Loma, overcame wind and rain to shoot 4-under par 68 and win the Southern California PGA’s Club Car Aggregate Series event by three strokes over Bruce Nakamura and Warren Pinero at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club www.bayclubs.com/fairbanksranch in Rancho Santa Fe.

Pigman, who collected five birdies and an eagle, earned a spot in the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course in Torrey Pines beginning on Thursday next week.

Nakamura, of Aviara Golf Academy in Carlsbad, and Pinero, of Toscana Golf Course in Indian Wells, finished at 71, while Brian Smock of Coronado Golf Club, Rick Garboski of Golf Development Complex in Moorpark and Thomas Hills of Friendly Hills Country Club in Whittier all totaled 72 to tie for fourth.

Michael Block of Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo shot 73 to tie for seventh with Rick Skayhan of Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles, Vinnie Poncino of San Clemente Golf Course, and Chris Starkjohann, a PGA Life Member from Oceanside.

Block won the tournament in 2014 and 2018, while Smock claimed the title and a spot in the Farmers Insurance Open in 2016.
