Tony Padilla of Sacramento claimed the 50th Sacramento City Senior Championship by five strokes over two-time champion Jim Knoll of Sunnyvale in temperatures that surpassed 100 degrees at Bing Maloney Golf Course in Sacramento.
The event is part of the year-long series of championships presented by the Sacramento Golf Council.
Padilla, the 2017 Northern California Golf Association Senior champion, posted a score of 69-67—136, followed by Knoll at 70-71—141, while Corey West of San Francisco totaled 70-75—145 to tie for third with Dave Baskins of Davis, who finished at 74-71—145.
Defending champion Joey Ferrari of Stockton was fifth at 77-69—146, while Lance Bishop of Elk Grove shot 73-74—147 to tie for sixth with Tim Snow of Davis, who wound up at 71-76—147.
George Fahey of Orland carded a score of 73-75—148 to tie for eighth with Jeff Duncan of Carson City, Nev., who finished at 76-72—148, and Mark Morgan of Shingle Springs, who came in at 75-73—148.
Herb Jensen of Carmichael captured the Super Senior title with a score of 71-69—140, followed by defending champion Charles Richesin of Lodi at 70-73—143, and Tom Marks of Woodland at 70-75—145.
Bob Cook of Sacramento shot 73-73—146 to tie for fourth with Gregory Saiki of Sanger, who wound up at 71-75—146 and Robert Olds of Brentwood, who totaled 73-73—146, while Jon Jew of Brooks was seventh at 71-76—147, followed by Bob Schoenherr of San Jose at 72-77—149.
Bob Thomason of Woodbridge shot 73-77—150 to tie for ninth with Karl Aalto of Fresno, who finished at 75-75—150, and Mark Miller of Antioch, who wound up at 74-76—150.
