The new Opus SP (Spin Pocket) wedges are the sixth iteration of the original Opus prototype and they already has found acceptance on the PGA Tour. According to Callaway the conversion by staff pros is the best they have ever experienced for a new wedge.
The face grooves have a 17° angle with a tighter pitch which along with deeper laser crosshatching help grip the ball better for more spin and thus control and effective stopping power.
Callaway calls the two-piece head construction Spin Pocket, and it has been re-engineered and reshaped to move the center of gravity higher which aid producing a lower launch for flatter flight.
The Opus SP wedges also offer an X grind sole which has more bounce for play on firmer turf or for those who like to hit very short shots around the green with an open face.
