Murr, Cal State San Marcos Win Again in the Dennis Rose Invitational in Hawaii

The Cal State San Marcos Women’s Golf Team, ranked 10th in the Division II rankings, should end the Fall Season much higher.

Madison Murr and Diana Delgado finished first and second as the Cougars claimed their fourth victory in as many tournaments by winning the women’s title in the Dennis Rose Invitational by a whopping 21 strokes on the Village Course at Waikoloa Beach Golf Resort in Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii.

The Cougars, who won the Sonoma State Fall Invitational, tied for first in the Nick Turner Invitational and captured the HPU Shark Shootout in their previous Fall events, posted a winning score of 280-283—563, 13-under-par, followed by Sonoma State at 291-293—584.

Cal State Monterey Bay carded a score of 293-292—585 to tie for third with Cal State Los Angles, which finished at 294-291—585, while Cal State East Bay was fifth at 292-298—590, followed by Texas-Permian Basin in seventh at 295-297—592, and Simon Fraser at 296-299—595.

Western New Mexico totaled 298-300—598 to tie for eighth host Hawaii Pacific, which wound up at 296-302—598, while University of Texas at Tyler was 10th at 301-305—606.

Biola University of La Mirada finished in a tie for 11th at 305-303—608.

Murr, a Cal State San Marcos redshirt junior from Los Alamitos who also claimed the individual titles in the Shark Shootout and the Sonoma State Fall Invite, won this time with a score of 69-64—133, 11-under-par, followed by Delgado, a junior from West Covina, at 68-72—140, and Arnie Taguines of Texas-Permian Basin at 69-72—141.

Morgan Sjoerdsma of Cal Sate Los Angeles shot 74-69—143 to tie for fourth with Mia Golovich of Cal State Monterey Bay, who finished at 72-71—143, Talia Gutman of Sonoma State, who totaled 70-73—143, and Daniela Andrade of Cal State Los Angeles, who wound up at 68-75—143.

Lauren Hickam of Cal State San Marcos posted a score of 72-72—144 to tie for eighth with Jasmin Krishna of Cal State East Bay, who shot 71-73—144, and Kameron Kwong of Hawaii Pacific, who came in at 73-71—144.

Brady Turnquist led Biola in a tie for 25th at 78-71—149.

Rounding out the scoring for team champion Cal State San Marcos were Regan Barton in a tie for 30th at 71-79—150, and Makenna Carbardo in a tie for 39th at 76-75—151.
