The USC men couldn’t hold on to their second round lead at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, placing third behind second place UCLA and first place Washington. The Huskies shot a final round 16-under par to capture the title by two strokes over USC. San Diego State’s J. J. Spaun captured his first collegiate title with a sudden death victory over Washington’s Chris Williams. Sophomore Spaun held off Williams, who shot a low final round 64, with a chip-in birdie on the first playoff hole. The Aztecs as a team finished in a tie for eighth place.
