McGinley robbed in San Francisco

Paul McGinley of Ireland, who captained the Europeans to victory over the United States in the Ryder Cup last summer at Gleneagles in Scotland, flew into San Francisco this week on his way to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, and enjoyed an expensive lunch.

When he returned to his rental car, the back window was smashed and all of his belonging, including his golf clubs, were gone, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

“All my stuff was taken,” McGinley said. “I was just disappointed. I had only been in the country an hour and a half. It can happen in any country, or city in the world. I thought it was safe, and it didn’t cross my mind.”

According to the Chronicle, the thieves also took memorabilia from the 2014 Ryder Cup that McGinley had planned to auction for charity.

McGinley is making his seventh appearance at Pebble Beach.
