Lin, 9, Adds to Trophy Case by Winning Future Champions National Title by 8

Allen Lin of La Habra Heights keeps on winning, and he’s only 9-years-old.

Lin claimed his fourth victory of 2022 when he won the Boys 9-10 Division by a whopping eight strokes in the 16th Annual Future Champions Golf Tour National Championships at St. Mark Golf Club in San Marcos.

Earlier this year, Lin captured the Twin Oaks Summer Championship, the Los Robles Fall Challenge and the Upland Hills Fall Challenge on the Southern California PGA Junior Tour, in addition to finishing second four times, after winning an amazing 10 times on the circuit last year.

This time, Lin posted a score of 74-74—148, six-over-par, while Amar’e Bautista of Winchester was second at 78-78—156, followed by Victor Li of Laguna Niguel at 77-72—159.

Ethan Yu of Newport Coast shot 78-82—160 to tie for fourth with Dewey Back of El Cajon, who finished at 80-80—160, while Harrison Tran of Yorba Linda totaled 83-82—165 to tie for sixth with Gavin Zuniga of Huntington Beach, who wound up at 82-83—165.

Marcus Lin of San Marino was eighth at 84-82—166, followed by Preston Townsend of Coto de Caza at 80-87—167, and Mason Sacco of San Diego at 83-86—169.

Amy Lee of Canada won the Girls 15-18 Division with a score of 72-73-71—216, even par, followed by Amy Han of New Zealand at 67-75-77—219 and Melia Gustavson of Meadow Vista at 73-75-73—221.

Natalie Yen of West Linn, Ore., shot 76-74-72—222 to tie for fourth with Miren Ontanon of Mexico, who finished at 78-70-74—222, while Fay Jia of Murrieta was sixth at 73-74-76—223, followed by Ellen Jun of San Jose at 76-69-79—224.

Zoe Parker of Las Vegas totaled 78-76-73—227 to tie for eighth with Emma Wong of Bellevue, Wash., who wound up at 75-78-74—227, and Valentina Pena Anaya of Mexico, who came in at 78-74-75—227.

Nicolle Tang of Bellevue, Wash., claimed the Girls 13-14 Division title by shooting 72-76—148, six-over-par, while Sabrina Sun of Carlsbad was second at 76-76—152, followed by Vivi Yen of Pomona at 77-77—154, Isabella Fernandez of Irvine at 79-80—159, and Samantha Daniels of San Juan Capistrano at 78-72—160.

Anna Gao of Aliso Viejo shot 79-82—161 to tie for sixth with Kady Matsumoto of Miliani, Hawaii, who finished at 80-81—161, and Jingyi Cui of San Diego, who wound up at 87-84—161.

Myla Robinson of Eastvale carded a score of 81-81—162 to tie for ninth with Maleah Clark of Beaumont, who also finished at 81-81—162, Samarah Joshiakar of Temple City, who wound up at 82-80—162, Charlene Stolte of Clyde Hill, Wash., who totaled 80-82—162, and Ava Cepeda of Hauula, Hawaii, who also came in at 80-82—162.

Annika Raja of Irvine posted a score of 76-74—154, eighth over—par, and captured the Girls 11-12 Division title in a playoff over Mila Zalsman of St. Petersburg, Fla., who finished at 75-75—150.

Si Ge Eva Wang of Los Angeles shot 77-75—152 to tie for third with Lauren Richardson of Rancho Santa Fe, who wound up at 73-79—152, while Samantha Chiou of Orinda was fifth at 80-75—155, followed by Isabella Jiang Pang of Hong Kong at 80-77—157.

Madisyn Paras of Chula Vista totaled 81-77—158 to tie for seventh with Hana McGarry of San Diego, who finished at 78-80—158, while Lillian Phee of San Diego was ninth at 81-78—179, followed by Martina Galdeano Autrique of Mexico at 81-79—160.

The Boys 15-18 Division championship will be determined next week at Arrowwood Country Club in San Bernardino and Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook, along with the Boys 13-14 Division at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos, and the Boys 11-12 Division at St. Mark Golf Club in San Marcos.

The Girls 9-10 Division, Boys 8-and-Under Division, and the Girls 8-and-Under Division championships will also be played next week, all on the St. Mark Executive Course.
