Kim Takes Yorba Linda City Title in Playoff

Raymond Kim of Irvine made a four-foot par putt on the second extra hole to turn back Scott Blair and win the Yorba Linda City Championship at Black Gold Golf Club https://blackgoldgolf.com.

Blair, also of Irvine, seemed to have the advantage on the second extra hole with a 15-foot birdie putt, but blasted it well past the hole and missed the comebacker for par before Kim (pictured in Amateurgolf.com photo) sank the winner after taking his first putt from 25 feet off the fringe.

“Those fringes were so hard to judge,” said Kim, who also captured the 2019 Jack Kramer Memorial and shared the title in the 2018 SCPGA Junior Match Play Championship, in addition to winning the 2017 Green River Summer Championship and the 2017 TTC Coto De Caza Qualifier at Temecula Creek.

Kim finished with a score of 70-71—141, while Blair wound up at 72-69—141, and first-round leader Jackson Rivera of Rancho Santa Fe was third at 69-73—142, followed by Jack Solis of La Quinta at 70-76—146 and Erick Liscio of Temecula at 75-72—147.

Brian Song of Los Angeles shot 77-71—148 to tie for sixth with Dean Netzel of Santa Barbara, who wound up at 70-78—148, while Brandon Fahrny of Anaheim totaled 74-75—149 to tie for eighth with Krando Nishiba of San Diego, who wound up at 72-77—149.
