Erika Ilagan of Westminster captured the Southern California PGA Women’s Section Championship on her home course at SeaCliff Country Club (https://www.seacliffcc.net/) in Huntington Beach by one stroke over Lehua Wise of Hideaway Golf Club in La Quinta.
Ilagan and Wise were tied for the lead after one round, but after making a double bogey on the fourth hole, Ilagan took control with three straight birdies.
In winning her third SCPGA event this year and fifth in the last two seasons, Ilagan finished with a score of 76-72—148, 4-over-par, while Wise wound up at 76-73—149, followed by Alison Curdt of Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley at 78-74—152 and Heather King of Encinitas Ranch Golf Club at 77-76—153.
Bari Brandwynne of Los Angeles Country Club shot 80-74—154 to tie for fifth with Sara Ovadia of the River Course at the Alisal in Solvang, who finished at 78-76—154, while Ronnie Valerio of Tustin Ranch Golf Club was seventh at 79-76—155.
Kari Sur of Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates totaled 81-83—164 to tie for eighth with Petra Cole of Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, who wound up at 78-86—164, and Junko Suziki of Rolling Hills Country Club was 10th at 85-83—168.
Wendy Wilson of Annandale Golf Club in Pasadena won the Teal Flight with a score of 79-78—157, followed by Lily Garcia-Kurotobi of Industry Hills Golf Club in the City of Industry at 81-81—162, Mardell Wilkins of Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita at 88-81—169 and Dale Shaw of La Quinta at 87-90—177.
