Harvey 3-peats in Thomas Invite at LACC

Scott Harvey of Kernersville, N.C., captured the George C. Thomas Invitational Golf Tournament for the third consecutive year, winning by three strokes on the North Course at Los Angeles Country Club.

Harvey, the 2014 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion and a member of the 2015 USA Walker Cup team, posted an even-par total of 69-78-66—213.

Skip Berkmeyer of Town and Country, Mo., shot 72-78-66—216 to tie for second with Aaron Hickman of Tyler, Texas, who finished at 71-72-73—216, while Ryan Abbate of Weston, Fla., was fourth at 75-74-70—219.

Robert Funk of Canyon Lake totaled 74-73-73—220 to tie for fifth with Taylor Wood of Laguna Niguel, who finished at 69-74-77—220, Stephen Summers of Dallas, who wound up at 75-76-69—220, Bill Williamson of Cincinnati, who totaled 70-80-70—220, and Jerome Esteve of Windermere, Fla., who came in at 73-70-77—220.

Nathan Smith of Pittsburgh shot 75-75-72—221 to tie for 10th with Roger Hoit of Summit, N.J., who finished at 76-72-73—221, and Matt Swan of Atlanta, who wound up at 72-73-76—221.

Gene Elliott of West Des Moines, Iowa, claimed the Senior Division title by five strokes over John Pate of Santa Barbara.
