Devin Gregg of San Anselmo sank 20-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to turn back Sean Talmadge of San Jose and Anthony Vaccaro of Fairfax, and win the Marin County Amateur Championship at San Geronimo Golf Club in San Geronimo.
Gregg, a junior at Sonoma State who also played at Sir Francis Drake High, posted a score of 75-70—145, 1-over-par, while Talmadge finished at 72-73—145 and Vaccaro wound up at 71-74—145.
Jordan Erlewine of Corte Madera, Maximilian Morris of San Anselmo and Matthew Watkins of Novato all shot 75-71—146 to tie for fourth with Tony Verna of San Francisco, who came in at 73-73—146.
Kevin Alexander of Napa posted a score of 76-74—150 to tie for eighth with Steven Wight of San Anselmo, who shot 74-76—150, and Craig Pence of Fairfax was 10th at 75-76—151.
Tony Ralph of Sunnyvale ran away with the Marin County Senior Amateur title with a score of 75-69—144, while Will Parker of Santa Rosa totaled 75-76—151 to tie for second with Philip Yim of Petaluma, who finished at 74-77—151.
Bruce Cardinal of Mill Valley was fourth at 79-74—153, followed by Larry Riis of Greenbrae at 82-72—154, Steve Pence of Fairfax at 81-74—155, while Michael Parnow of Sonoma of shot 78-78—156 to tie for seventh with Jim Williams of Orinda, who came in at 76-80—156.
James Himler of San Rafael was ninth at 73-84—157, while Clifford Pearson of Novato totaled 79-79—158 to tie for 10th with Kevin Kobalter of San Rafael, who wound up at 76-82—158.
