Moses Greene of Hayward defeated Brendan Choe of Orinda and Tony Ralph of Sunnyvale to capture the 96th Oakland City Golf Championship in a playoff at Lake Chabot Golf Course.
The 16-year-old Greene, a junior at Redwood Christian School in Castro Valley who won the Bay Counties League Championship, the Napa Valley Junior Open, the Sacramento Junior Shootout, the East Bay Junior Championship and the San Jose Junior Shootout last year, rallied in the final round to finish with a score of 74-71—145, 1-over-par.
Choe wound up at 70-75—145, and Ralph totaled 72-73—145.
Alex Barclay of Pleasanton was fourth at 72-74—146, while 2013 Oakland city champion Evan Dunbrack of San Jose shot 80-68—148 to tie for fifth with Kevin O’Brien of San Francisco, who wound up 72-76—148, and Howard Oliver of Oakland, who came in at 71-77—148.
Scott Morris of Oakland and Miguel Euan of Lathrop tied for eighth with scores of 75-75—150, while Heetae Yang of Pleasanton was 10th at 76-75—151.
