Gator causes slow play

An alligator estimated to be about 13 feet long interrupted play on the seventh hole of the White Course at Myakka Pines Golf Club in Englewood, Fla., and plopped himself down on the green, bringing several games to an abrupt halt.

Bill Susie used his cell phone to snap take several pictures of the gator, which he said “looks like a dinosaur,” while Dick Huber took the picture of the reptile lying on the green near the pin.

The pictures were posted on Facebook and shared more than 5,000 times, giving some terrific publicity to the course located on the Gulf Coast south of St. Petersburg.

According to The Blaze, a local newspaper, Myakka Pines once was the home of an even larger alligator named “Big George.”
