A high toe construction facilitates an open face for shots from rough and sand when more face area is needed and with the rear Spin Pocket removing mass from low in the clubhead these new wedges have the highest center of gravity of any Callaway wedge for flatter, controlled pitches.
There are also two new grinds, the J Grind for lower effective bounce and the JW Grind (62° only) with a wider sole for bunker shots. With the higher toe and more face area Callaway went with the full-face grooves giving 44% more groove area and they reduced the pitch spacing by 17 degrees for more grip on the ball and better stopping.
“When you’re around the green, Full Toe SP brings out so much creativity – whether it’s out of the bunker, the rough, the fairway. Or whether you’re playing with a high, low, open face, or square face,” said Jacob Davidson, Callaway VP of Global Product Strategy. “With the Full Toe shape, we’ve increased that area of that high toe, which allows you to have more room on that side of the club. And by adding full-length grooves that extend across the face, there’s much more groove area to work with on this wedge.”
