Fox-Huff, Wortman-Yu Make U.S. Am 4-Ball

Austin Fox of Folsom and Kevin Huff of El Dorado Hills shot 7-under-par 64 to share medalist honors with Bruce Wortman of Creswell, Ore., and Sean Yu of Taiwan at http://www.delpasocc.org Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento as both twosomes to qualified for the fifth 2019 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship.

Fox and Huff (both pictured right), both 20, were teammates at Vista Del Lago High in Folsom. Fox is a junior at University of the Pacific and Huff is a sophomore at Fresno State. Wortman and Yu (both pictured left) are teammates at San Jose State.

The U.S. Am Four-Ball Championship will be played in May at Bandon Dunes Resort http://www.bandondunesgolf.com  in Bandon, Ore., and numerous qualifying events have been played around the country.

At Poppy Hills Golf Course https://poppyhillsgolf.com in Pebble Beach, Derek Ackerman of Santa Clara and Matthew McCarty of Scottsdale, Ariz., totaled 8-under 63 to lead qualifying, while Jackson Lake, 17, of Clovis and Aidan Tran, 14, of Fresno finished at 65 and took the second spot in a three-way playoff.

Jeff Koprivetz and Pete Williams of San Diego led qualifying at Rams Hill Golf Club https://www.ramshill.com in Borrego Springs with a score of 9-under 63, while Hunter Epson and Ryder Epson of Long Beach were second at 64.

At Monarch Dunes Golf Club http://www.monarchdunesgolf.com in Nipomo, Doug Miller of Thousand Oaks and Mark Modglin of Simi Valley shared medalist honors with Matthew Carungay of La Mirada and Kyle Kinnane of Anaheim Hills at 8-under 63, and both twosomes qualified.

Tyler Moore, a redshirt junior at UC Irvine, and Cullen Brasfield of La Quinta led the way at 8-under 64 at the Oaks Club at Valencia https://www.oaksclubvalencia.com , while Jack Townsend of San Diego and Tyler Gullicksen of Daytona Beach, Fla., came in at 65 before advancing in a three-team playoff.

At Sonoma Golf Club https://www.sonomagolfclub.com, Travis Peterson of Santa Rosa and Ian Albrecht of Sonoma led qualifying at 13-under 59, with Jason Anthony of Fairfield and Randy Haag of Orinda grabbing the other spot at 61.

Jonas Miklas of Truckee and Dustin Hall of Sparks, Nev., earned the only qualifying spot available in the qualifier at Somersett Golf and Country Club http://somersettgolfandcountryclub.com in Reno, Nev., by shooting 9-under 63.
