Marissa Chow of Pepperdine claimed the individual title and led the Waves to victory in the Golfweek Conference Challenge for the third consecutive year on the Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo.
Chow (pictured), a junior from Honolulu, posted a score of 73-70-67–210, six-under-par, to win by four strokes over Anna Newell of Tennessee, who finished at 72-75-67–214, Mariell Bruun of Denver, who wound up at 73-73-68–214, and A.J. Newell of Tennessee, who came in at 70-74-70–214.
Backing up Chow for the Waves were Tatiana Wijaya in a tie for sixth at 68-78-71–217, Alina Ching in a tie for 11th at 68-78-75–221, Somin Lee in solo 17th at 79-73-70–222 and Katherine Zhu in a tie for 21st at 75-77-72–224.
“I’m so proud of the team,” said Pepperdine Coach Laurie Gibbs, who claimed here 48th team title in 22 seasons at Pepperdine. “They played great this week. Marissa played very well and is doing a great job leading the team.”
Kassidy Teare led Long Beach State tied for 21st at 75-77-72–224 and Chaewon Park of the 49ers tied for 24th at 74-78-73–225.
Pepperdine was tied for the lead with Tennessee entering the final round, but pulled away to win with a score of 284-298-280–862, two-under-par, with the Volunteers finishing at 285-297-281–863.
Denver was third at 293-301-276–870, followed by Campbell at 290-302-289–881, Louisville at 293-301-295–889 and Long Beach State at 308-312-288–908.
