Club geeks are going to like the Quantum drivers since they are the only ones with a three-layer face which Callaway developed in pursuit of higher ball speed while staying withing the limitations set by of the Rules of Golf.
An analysis of data for strokes gained off the tee proved that driving distance contributes 65% and accuracy 35% making distance almost twice as valuable to better scores. Long hitters always have had and still have an advantage so players at every level are looking for more distance and manufacturers are pushing higher ball speed as the solution.
Callaway’s answer to increase ball speed is the Tri-Force face, the first ever in golf. It is three layers, a super thin titanium layer on the outside backed by a Poly Mesh polymer, and then carbon fiber on the inside. On impact a driver face deflects. The inner surface stretches under tension and the outer surface undergoes compression. Carbon fiber is excellent resisting tension so it is great on the inner surface while titanium is lightweight and has excellent strength under compression so it’s great on the outside. One face material can’t do both as well. For example, a carbon fiber face must be thicker to provide the desired performance which can reduce forgiveness and a titanium face is compromised under tension meaning other design compromises must be made.
Callaway says the Tri-Force face therefore can be 14% thinner than the previous model titanium face.
To hold the titanium and carbon fiber in position the solution was to reinforce the face without glue using the Poly Mesh and this makes the Tri-Force face 17% more responsive than the comprable Elyte models of 2025.
