Cal Baptist Women Win Diamonte Intercollegiate by 3 Over Boston College

The California Baptist women’s golf team claimed its first victory of the season by three strokes over Boston College while closing out its Fall Season in the Diamonte Intercollegiate at Diamonte Village Golf Club in Hot Springs, Ark.

The Lancers had all five players post an under-par score in the final round while coming from behind to win.

“The team’s remarkable achievement of winning this event while shattering our 36- and 54-hole program records is a testament to their unity and dedication,” said Coach Marc Machado, who claimed his ninth victory since becoming head coach of the Lancers in 2016. “All five members consistently showed up and contributed to every round, embodying our shared message and theme this week, to be bold on every shot and situation.

“Today is a great day to be a CBU Lancer. This moment truly reflects the commitment of these young ladies buying into what this team stands for and also shows their continued efforts to strengthen our program’s united, team-first culture.”

Cal Baptist posted a winning score of 281-281-276—838, 26-under-par to set a school record, while Boston College finished at 282-273-286–841, followed by Central Arkansas at 285-283-282—850, Arkansas Little Rock at 290-284-289—893, and Arkansas State at 290-281-293—864.

Memphis State totaled 293-282-290—865 to tie for sixth with Ball State, which finished at 291-289-285—865, while Memphis was eighth at 291-289-285—865, followed by Tarleton State at 298-293-286—877 and Houston Christian at 291-287-300—878.

Pariya Sanpanawat of Georgia State claimed the individual title with a score of 70-67-67—204, followed by Abbey Schutte of Arkansas at 70-71-66—207, while Pusanisa Ekkantrong of Cal Baptist shot 70-67-71—208 to tie for third with Lancer teammate Samantha Dizon, who finished at 66-71-71—208, and Elise Schultz of Arkansas State, who wound up at 66-72-70—208.

Kiah Parrott of Ball State posted a score of 72-69-68—209 to tie for sixth with Gudrun Thornsteinsdottir of Central Arkansas, who finished at 70-69-70—209, and Mathilde Brogens of Tarleton State, who wound up at 69-70-70—209.

Sofia Chabon of Cal Baptist carded a score of 72-70-68—210 to tie for ninth with Cynthia Zhang of Boston College, who shot 73-67-70—210, and Canice Screene, also of Boston College, who came in at 67-68-75—210.

Rounding out the scoring for team champion Cal Baptist were Burberry Zhang in a tie for 14th at 73-74-66—213, and Dimini Law Ghanshyani in a tie for 39th at 75-73-71—219.
