BYU’s Kuest Wins 10th Title in St. Mary’s Invite

Peter Kuest of Brigham Young captured the 10th individual title of his college career by four strokes and Colorado State took home the team championship in the St. Mary’s Invitational Collegiate at Poppy Hills Golf Course https://poppyhillsgolf.com in Pebble Beach.

Kuest, a senior from Fresno who prepped at Clovis West, claimed his third individual title of the Fall Season with a score of 67-68-67—202, 11-under-par, while Trevor Werbylo of Arizona was second at 72-67-67—206.

“It felt great to get the win,” said Kuest, who is second in the Golfweek/Sagarin national men’s college rankings. “Coming into today I thought if I could finish around 10-under that I would have a shot. I was fortunate enough to do so and come out on top.”

Carson Barry of Oregon State shot 69-71-67—207 to tie for third with Davis Bryant of Colorado State, who finished at 64-74-69—207, and Parathakorn Suyasri, also of Colorado State, who wound up at 68-66-73—207.

Evan Peterson of St. Mary’s posted a score of 69-72-68—209 to tie for sixth with Zihao Jin of San Diego State, who totaled 69-69-71—209, Mitchell Schow of Utah, who finished at 70-71-68—209, Rhett Rasmussen of BYU, who shot 72-68-69—209, Brad Reeves of Arizona, wound up at 65-69-75—209, and Seth Taylor of Coastal Carolina, who came in at 67-66-76—209.

Matthew Sutherland led Fresno State in a tie for 12th at 73-69-68—210, Matthew Anderson of San Francisco tied for 22nd at 72-71-69—212, and Austin Fox of Pacific tied for 50th at 73-73-72—218.

Colorado State totaled 267-280-280—827, 25-under, to win by five shots, while BYU was second at 276-278-278—832, followed by Arizona at 278-275-283—836, New Mexico at 279-278-284—841 and Oregon State at 280-291-281—852.

St. Mary’s was sixth at 283-285-285—853, followed by San Diego State at 286-286-284—856 and Fresno State at 290-282-290—862, while USF shot 283-286-295—864 to tie for ninth with Coastal Carolina, which wound up at 289-280-295—864.

Santa Clara finished 13th at 288-291-290—869 and Pacific was 16th at 301-304-295—900.
