Beverly, Sac State sweep Big Sky titles

Aaron Beverly of Sacramento State captured the individual crown and led the Hornets to the Big Sky Conference Golf Championship at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.

The Hornets claimed their third conference golf title and first since the sport was reinstated at Sacramento State in 2015.

Sacramento State posted a winning score of 304-285-285–874, 10-over-par, followed by Northern Colorado at 306-303-280–889, Weber State at 303-304-287–894, and Hartford at 309-311-289–909.

Southern Utah was fifth at 319-300-295–914, followed by Binghamton at 316-313-292–921, Idaho at 326-302-295–923 and North Dakota at 352-320-313–985.

Beverly, a senior from Fairfield, collected his third college title and first this season by carding a score of 73-70-72–215, 1-under, while his Hornet teammate Robert Parden shot 77-70-69–216 to tie for second with Coby Welch of Northern Colorado, who finished at 74-72-70–216, and Elias Gross of Hartford, who wound up at 75-69-72–216.

Wonje Choi of Sacramento State was fifth at 76-69-72–217, followed by Joshua Matz of Northern Colorado at 72-79-68–219, and Kyler Dearden of Weber State at 72-78-70–220.

Alex Herzog of Weber State totaled 75-76-70–221 to tie for eighth with Enrique Marin of Idaho, who came in at 83-71-67–221, while Sean Badger of Weber State was 10th at 79-74-71–224.

Rounding out the scoring for champion Sacramento State were Landon Azevedo in a tie for 17th at 79-78-72–229, and Devyn Fitchhorn in a tie for 19th at 78-76-77–231.
