Berry Henson of La Quinta fired a 9-under-par 63 on Tuesday to grab the lead after two rounds of the 113th California State Open at the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont. Henson opened with a 69 and stands at 12-under par midway through the tournament.
First-round leader Hyunseok Lim of La Palma is two shots back at 134 (65-69). Amateur Rico Hoey, who took home the boys 15-17-year-old title at Junior World in San Diego last week, is another two shots back at 8-under par (70-66–136).
Sixty-two players made 36-hole cut, which fell at even-par 144.
