Berndt-Tonis Claim NCGA Scramble Title

Brandon Berndt of Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove and Mike Tonis of Sacramento Golf Club captured Big Sur Flight by one stroke in the sixth annual Northern California Golf Association Two-Person Scramble Championship at Poppy Hills Golf Course www.poppyhillsgolf.com in Pebble Beach.

Berndt and Tonis finished with a net score of 67-58—125, 17-under-par, while Samuel Petke of the Olympic Club in San Francisco and Adam Petke of E-Club San Francisco, who totaled 63-63—126, to tie for second with Donel Geison and James Stout of Rancho Canada Players in Carmel, who also finished at 63-63.

The Petkes were awarded second place in a card-off.

Scott Anderson and Tom Krimmel of Creekside Golf Club in Modesto were fourth at 63-64—147, followed by Brian Souto of E-Club Sacramento and Eric Souto of Roseville Golf Course, who wound up at 65-63—128.

Kelly Ross and Kevin Seeman of Valley Hi Country Club shot 65-65—130 to tie for sixth with Mark Purdom and Bob Franceschetti of Spring Creek Golf and Country Club in Ripon, who wound up at 67-63—130, Takeshi Usuzaka and Itsuko Moridaira of Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, who finished at 66-64–130, and Michael Lee of E-Club San Francisco and Ernie Santamaria of E-Club South Bay, who came in at 67-63—130.

Chris and Jimmy Goin of Alameda Golf Club and Jimmy Dever of Old Benicia Golf Club were 10th at 67-64—131.

Jack Roy and Christopher Flexen of Skywest Golf Club in Hayward claimed the Golden Gate Flight with a score of 61-60—121, while Dan Robison and Mark Bates of Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin totaled 64-63—127 to tie for second with Robert Benson and Alan Proctor of Dry Creek Men’s Club in Galt, who wound up at 62-65—127.

Robison and Bates were awarded second in a card-off.

Damion Walkup of Catta Verdera Country Club in Lincoln and Patrick Beckman of E-Club Sacramento finished at 67-64—131 to tie for fourth with Jason Clark and Brad Williams of E-Club Sacramento, who also wound up at 67-64—131.

Walkup and Beckman took fourth in a card-off.

Steve Zercoe and Gary Glendenning of Diablo Grande Golf and Country Club in Patterson tied for the Yosemite Flight title by recording a score of 65-64—129 to finish even with Chris Nishida and Ian Wedergren of Workday Golf Club, who wound up at 67-62—129.

Zercoe and Glendenning took the title in a card-off.

John Petrarca and Glenn Simon of Whitney Oaks Country Club totaled 66-65—131 to tie for third with Brion Martinez of E-Club East Bay and Mark Krzysik of Google Golf Club, who also totaled 66-65—131.

Petrarca and Simon claimed third in a card-off.

Frank Cassulo E-Club Monterey Bay and Travis Findly of Pacific Grove Golf Club were fifth at 66-66—132.
