Jason Anthony of Fairfield shot 1-under-par 71 and California climbed to a tie for sixth, seven shots back, going to the last round of the 11th USGA Men’s State Team Championship at French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind.
Anthony (pictured), who played at Fresno State, carded seven birdies in his second round to follow up an opening 70.
Tim Hogarth of Northridge posted three early birdies in a round of 74 after opening with a 75, and Dan Sullivan of Pasadena had a 79 after starting with a 78.
With the two best scores from counting in the team total, California was at 141-149–290, 1-over.
Texas leads at 144-139–283.
